Paulina de las Mercedes Tamayo Cevallos (Quito, 14 April 1965) is an Ecuadorian
singer whose career began in childhood under the guidance of her musically
inclined family. She entered the company of actor Don Ernesto Albán at seven,
receiving formal training in performance arts that shaped her artistic
sensibility. Tamayo’s first public breakthrough came in 1970 when, at five, she
won the “Artista Profesional” contest on Radio Éxito, performing the pasillo
“Entrega Final” and earning a gold trophy at the Festival Colombo-Ecuadoriano.
