Paul Clarvis, born on April 9, 1963, in London, is a British percussionist known
for his contributions to modern jazz. He began playing in a Dixieland band
during his school years and later performed with rock bands and the National
Youth Orchestra. Clarvis received training from Jimmy Benson, Dave Hassell, Jim
Blackley, and Yousuf Ali Khan. In 1983, he graduated from the Royal College of
