Patrick Kelly, born in 1905 in Cree, County Clare, Ireland, was an Irish
fiddle-player and teacher. He learned to play at a young age during the heyday
of American Wakes and house dances. His style was influenced by Kerry fiddler
George Whelan and Danny Mescal, who acted as his teachers and mentors. Kelly
specialized in music set in 12/8 pieces and taught in Cree and its surroundings,
passing on the Foxhunters Reel. He tuned his fiddle in GDGD to use droning and
