John Michael Osbourne was born on December 3, 1948 in the Aston district of
Birmingham, in the industrial north of England. At the end of 1967, he formed a
band with bassist Geezer Butler, which became Black Sabbath in 1969. Now
nicknamed Ozzy Osbourne, the singer spent eight years in the saga of the band
that invented a new musical genre: heavy metal. Nicknamed The Madman himself,
Ozzy Osbourne became a legendary rock figure, leaving the band in 1978 after the
