Eisaku Okawa, born Itsuzo Aramaki on October 30, 1948, in Okawa, Fukuoka, is a
renowned Japanese enka singer. After graduating from Saga Commercial High School
in Saga Prefecture, he moved to Tokyo and apprenticed under the famous composer
Masao Koga. Okawa made his debut in 1969 with the song "Menai Chidori" released
through Nippon Columbia. His stage name, which translates to "Strategizing
Prosperity," was inspired both by his hometown and by the then-Prime Minister
