Olympic

Olympic is a Czech rock band formed in 1962 as Karkulka by saxophonist Miloslav Růžek. They released their debut album Želva in 1968. Olympic released several key records, including the concept albums Prázdniny na Zemi (1980), Ulice (1981) and Laboratoř (1984), before disbanding in 1993 and reforming in 1994. The band marked its 50th anniversary in 2012 with concerts and a compilation series. Olympic won the Golden Nightingale in 1981‑1983, the Czech Nightingale Group of the Year 1996‑1998, and was inducted into the Beatová síň slávy in 2019.
