Born of the dissolution of Marquis de Sade, Rennes-based Octobre was formed in
1981 around former members Frank Darcel (guitar), Thierry Alexandre (bass) and
Éric Morinière (drums), with Eric Lanz as the new lead singer. Moving away from
the dark cold wave style of Marquis de Sade, Octobre opted for synthetic rock
with keyboardist Arnold Turboust and funk with percussionist Grégori Czerkinsky.
Signed to the Pathé-Marconi label (EMI), he recorded his first six-track
mini-album, Next Year in Asia (1982), produced by Michel Esteban and featuring
