Nicolas Collins is an American composer, sound artist, and writer, known
primarily for his work in electronic music. He earned his BA and MA from
Wesleyan University and his PhD from the University of East Anglia, and was a
Watson Fellow after graduating from Wesleyan. In the 1980s, Collins was a
pioneer in using microcomputers and home-built electronic circuitry in live
performance, collaborating with artists such as Tom Cora, Shelley Hirsch,
