Mute Math were formed in 2002 by Paul Meany and Darren King, both former members
of the Christian rock band Earthsuit. The duo initially collaborated remotely,
later adding guitarist Greg Hill and bassist Roy Mitchell‑Cárdenas, and signed
with Teleprompt Records, which secured a distribution deal with Warner Music
Group. The band released the Reset EP in 2004, followed by the self‑titled album
Mutemath in 2006, which reached number 17 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers
