Steven Patrick Morrissey, born on September 22, 1959 in Manchester, England, was
a singer and songwriter. After studying art and working in a local factory, he
formed The Smiths with guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke, drummer Mike
Joyce and bassist Craig Gannon. The group signed with Hughes & Harlow and
released "This Charming Man" in 1983, followed by the debut album The Smiths in
1984, which reached number 19 on the UK Albums Chart. Subsequent releases Meat
