Shawn Maurice Mims, known simply as Mims, was born on 22 March 1981 in New York
City and raised in the Washington Heights neighbourhood. He began his music
career under the pseudonym Mr. Mims, releasing singles such as "L.O.V.E/I Made a
Vow" in 2000. After gaining some recognition in Canada with appearances on
compilations like Private Party Collectors Edition Vol. 2 and collaborations
with artists like Choclair, Mims dropped the "Mr." from his name and released
