Michael Wayne Campbell, born February 1, 1950, in Panama City, Florida, is an
American guitarist and vocalist. At age 16, his mother bought him a Harmony
acoustic guitar, sparking his musical journey. He formed the band Dead or Alive
with friends before joining Tom Petty's Mudcrutch in 1972. After Mudcrutch
disbanded, Campbell co-founded Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1976,
contributing to hits like "Refugee" and "Runnin' Down a Dream". He co-produced
several albums with Petty, including Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers. In 2018,
