Michiya Haruhata, born November 5, 1966, in Machida, Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese
guitarist and composer best known as a member of the pop-rock band Tube. He
began his musical education on the piano in elementary school, played keyboard
in school bands, and switched to folk guitar and then electric guitar at age 14.
In 1984, he won the best-guitarist prize at the Silkroad Music Festival, and the
following year co-founded Tube with Nobuteru Maeda, Hideyuki Kakuno, and Ryōji
