Michael Wurst, born Michael Wurst on 7 January 1975 in Bochum, Germany, is a
German singer whose career began in the mid‑1990s as a member of his father’s
and uncle’s cover band The Tweens. After leaving his law studies to compete in
the Sat.1 talent show Star Search, he finished third and secured a contract with
Universal Music, launching his solo career with the single "Are You Ready" in
December 2003, which served as the official title track for the UEFA Champions
