Moroccan musician Meryem Aboulouafa studied interior design before fully
embarking on her music career in the late 2010s. Noted for layering her
haunting, atmospheric vocals, Aboulouafa was born in Casablanca in 1988 and
studied at music conservatories in Africa and Europe before turning
professional. Israeli musician Keren Ann helped shape a set of songs Aboulouafa
had written, based on her own poetry, which were later recorded in Paris by
French producer Para One, with assistance from French musician Ojard. The
