Born in Buenos Aires in 1973 to an Argentinian mother, the painter Marie Orensanz, and a French father, Mercedes Audras spent her childhood in Italy and then France. Attracted to indie rock, she was playing bass in the band Power Game when she met Virgin France artistic director Fabrice Nataf, who signed her to an artist's contract in 1987.
