Melanie Scholtz, born in Cape Town, South Africa, on February 25, 1979, is a South African jazz singer, songwriter, composer, dancer, and visual artist. She received formal vocal training and graduated cum laude with a Performers Diploma in opera from the University of Cape Town in 2000. Scholtz won the Best Jazz Vocalist Award at the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters in 2002 and released her debut studio album, Zillion Miles, in 2006.
