Mayte Martín
María Teresa Martín Cadierno, known professionally as Mayte Martín, was born on
April 19, 1965, in Barcelona, Spain. She is a singer and composer of flamenco
and bolero music. Martín began her career in 1985 by participating in local
flamenco competitions and festivals. In 1987, she won the prestigious Lámpara
Minera at the Festival del Cante de las Minas. In 1994, Mayte Martín released
her debut album Muy frágil, which blended traditional flamenco with original
compositions. She followed this with Free Boleros in 1996, a collaboration with
