Maskavo is a Brazilian reggae group formed in 1993 in Brasilia. Initially named
“Maskavo Roots,” the ensemble included vocalist Marcelo Vourakis and guitarist
Rodrigo Prata. The band recorded a demo in 1993 and signed with Banguela Records
following a performance at the AeroAnta club. The group released its debut
studio album, Maskavo Roots, in 1995. In 2000, the band relocated to São Paulo,
adopted the name Maskavo, and signed with Deckdisc. The ensemble released the
album Já in 2000, which featured the single “Um anjo do céu” and a collaboration
with Seu Jorge on the song “Sapo...
