Martin Weiss
Martin Weiss, born on June 14, 1961, in Berlin, Germany, was a violinist and
guitarist known for his contributions to Gypsy-Jazz. Coming from a family of
Sinti musicians, Weiss formed his first band with his cousin Romani Weiss and
Willy Rehm. This ensemble, later expanded to include Pedro Tetour, Rainer Weber,
and Häns’che Weiss, was named Dja Maro Drom. By the age of 17, Weiss was a
soloist in the Häns’che Weiss Quintett. He collaborated with artists such as
Stéphane Grappelli, Biréli Lagrène, and Ravi Shankar. The Goethe-Institut
