Marti Jones, born in Uniontown, Ohio, is an American singer who performed with
her sisters in a folk music group and graduated from Kent State University in
1979. Producer Liam Sternberg suggested she join Akron band Color Me Gone as
their lead singer, leading to the recording of one EP for A&M Records in 1982.
Jones' first solo album, Unsophisticated Time, was released in 1985 on A&M
Records, produced by Don Dixon. She recorded two more albums for A&M Records –
