Markus Riva
Miķelis Ļaksa, born 2 October 1986 in Sabile, Latvian SSR, USSR, is a Latvian
musician, producer, and DJ known professionally as Markus Riva. After working as
a DJ at Capital FM and composing for television, he released his debut album
Ticu in 2009. He followed with Songs from NYC (2010), MR (2015), and Bigger than
This (2024). Markus Riva entered Latvia’s Supernova national selections from
2015 to 2025, achieving a second‑place finish in 2015 with "Take Me Down" and a
fourth place in 2023 with "Forever". In 2025, he won the TV show Koru Kari with
the choir Talsi Baltajis koris.
