Cruz, Murcia, Spain, was a Spanish singer‑songwriter who emerged from a modest
background and a prolonged illness that fostered her musical interest. After
initial training in guitar and songwriting, she was discovered by director
Nicholas Ray and relocated to London, then Paris, where she recorded French
