Marcella Detroit, born Marcella Levy on June 21, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, is
an American singer and songwriter. She began her musical career in the early
1970s, performing with various bands in her hometown. Her breakthrough came when
she joined Bob Seger's tour, contributing backing vocals to his album Back in
'72. This led to collaborations with Leon Russell and Eric Clapton, for whom she
sang on albums such as There's One in Every Crowd and co-wrote hits like "Lay
