Manny Charlton – born Manuel Charlton in La Linia, Andalusia, Spain on July 25,
1941 – was best known as the guitarist of Scottish hard rock group Nazareth.
Although born in Spain, he grew up in Dunfermline, Scotland, where he learned to
play the guitar and performed in several local groups in the 1960s including The
Mark Five and The Red Hawks before joining The Shadettes, who would later rename
themselves Nazareth in 1968. The group’s mix of blues and rock, and the unique
vocal stylings of Dan McCafferty paved the way to international sucess with
albums such as Razamanaz (1973)...
