Mambo, a Puerto Rican merengue group founded in 1998 by producer Hiram
Villanueva, quickly gained prominence with their unique sound and innovative
approach to tropical music. Their debut album, released under Tropix Music,
featured the hit single “Corazón Partío,” a merengue rendition of Alejandro
Sanz’s classic. However, it was the Elvis Crespo-composed “Ella tiene el sabor”
that catapulted them to international fame, selling over 50,000 units and
