Makichang (real name: Maki Matsumoto), born on September 19, 1987, is a Japanese
singer-songwriter from Sōja, Okayama. Known for her emotive piano-based
performances and deeply introspective lyrics, she debuted in 2008 with the
single "Honey / Chigusa" under the VAP label. Her stage name originated in high
school when a live house manager casually wrote “makichang” in a booking
notebook. Often compared to Miyuki Nakajima due to her songwriting style,
