Listener, an American spoken word rock band from Fayetteville, Arkansas, was
formed in 2002. The group originated as a solo hip-hop project by Dan Smith, who
used the moniker "Listener." Smith released his first album, Whispermoon, on
Mush Records in 2003. In 2005, Listener transitioned into a full-fledged rock
band and embarked on their first tour, the "Tour of Homes," which involved
