Laura Stevenson is an American singer-songwriter born in Long Island, New York,
on April 25, 1984. She began her musical career in the punk/folk band Bomb the
Music Industry! as keyboardist and backing vocalist, before going solo in the
mid-2000s. She formed the band Laura Stevenson and the Cans, with whom she
recorded her first two albums, the self-released A Record (2008), reissued by
Don Giovanni Records, the label on which the following Sit Resist (2011) was
