Lamya
Lamya was a Kenyan-born English singer and songwriter born as Lamya Hafidh
Sultan Al-Mugheiry on 30 October 1963 in Mombasa. She achieved professional
recognition for a musical career that began in 1989 after she received classical
vocal training and relocated to New York City at age 16. Her recording career
began with the song “Break 4 Love” (1989), which reached number 77 in the United
Kingdom. Lamya achieved professional recognition for performing as a lead
