La Firma was formed in 1996 in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico, by
Juan Cárdenas, Adrián González, and the young composer‑singer Luis “Louie”
Padilla, who served as the group’s lead vocalist and primary songwriter. The
band’s breakthrough came with the 1998 release of their debut album Como Una
Estrella, whose single "La Culpable" entered the Top 10 on regional radio charts
