Kroke
Kroke is a Polish folk and klezmer band formed in Kraków in 1992 by Academy of
Music graduates Tomasz Kukurba, Jerzy Bawoł, and Tomasz Lato. Initially
associated primarily with klezmer music, the group gradually incorporated jazz,
contemporary music, and influences from other ethnic traditions into its sound.
Kroke self-released its first cassette, Klezmer Acoustic Music, in 1993. After
Steven Spielberg saw the group perform, he invited them to Jerusalem for the
Survivors Reunion ceremony. Their early albums include Trio (1996), Eden (1997),
and The Sounds of the Vanishing World ...
