Born in Manhattan on 17 February 1983, Kevin Rudolf had a love of music instilled in him from an early age thanks to his mother's aspirations to be a rock singer. He learnt to play the guitar from the age of 11 and, as a teen, made a name for himself in the New York underground music scene. He got lucky when he met producer Timbaland through a friend and caught his first break collaborating on the rapper's songs, including "Release" and "Scream."
