Kenneth Joseph Rankin, also known as Kenny Rankin, was born on February 10,
1940, in Manhattan, New York, and was an American singer-songwriter. Growing up
in Washington Heights, he was exposed to various musical influences, and his
mother's singing sparked his early interest in music. He signed his first record
deal with Decca Records in the late 1950s, releasing several singles. He moved
to Columbia Records in 1964 and worked as a songwriter and session guitarist,
