Kang Jinrong, known professionally as Kang Kang, was born on May 2, 1967, in Kaoshiung, Taiwan. Before entering the entertainment industry, Kang held various jobs, including military policeman and pub singer. His breakthrough came when he won the 1997 Pub Heroes singing competition, leading to his inclusion in Shanghua Records' 1997 Pub Heroes 2 compilation.
