Juanito, born Jean Claude Safrana in Tunisia in 1936, is a French singer of
Algerian descent who became popular in Turkey during the 1960s. He arrived in
Turkey in 1965 with his orchestra, Los Alcarson, but remained after the group
left three months later. During a period when French songs translated into
Turkish were popular, Juanito gained recognition with “Arkadaşımın Aşkısın,” a
Turkish adaptation of Enrico Macias’s “La Femme de mon ami.” He subsequently
recorded several Turkish versions of French songs and released vinyl singles
