John Paul Cooper, born in the Manchester suburb of Middleton on November 1,
1983, took an interest in grunge in his youth, playing guitar and forming a rock
band at college. His discovery of soul music led him to change his style. He
sang in a choir, performed in bars and wrote his first songs. In 2012, he
