La Joven Guardia was an Argentine rock band from Buenos Aires, formed in 1967 by
Félix Pando, Hiacho Lezica, Roque Narvaja, and Enrique Masllorens. Named after a
novel by Aleksandr Fadéyev, the group was a pioneer of beat rock in Spanish. Its
hit “El Extraño del Pelo Largo” (1969) became a commercial phenomenon and
inspired a film. The band received two gold records for selling over one million
copies of its first two singles, which included “La Extraña de las Botas Rosas”
(1970). Later works included politically charged lyrics. Narvaja left the band
