Jonathan Gilad, born on February 17, 1981, in Marseille, is a French classical
pianist. He began playing the piano at age five. He earned a gold medal at the
Conservatoire de Marseille at age 11 and won the First Grand Prix of the City of
Marseille in 1991. Gilad studied with Dmitri Bashkirov and made his North
American debut in Chicago in 1996. In 1998, he performed at the Berlin festival
and debuted at New York's Carnegie Hall with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic
