Jon English was an English-born Australian singer, songwriter and actor born in 1949 in Hampstead, London. He emigrated to Australia in 1961 and began his musical career as a vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the band Sebastian Hardie. English achieved prominence in 1972 when he was cast as Judas Iscariot in the Australian production of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. His solo recording career featured successful singles including “Turn the Page” (1974) and “Hollywood Seven” (1976).
