Jon Carter, born 1970 in Essex, England, is an English electronic music producer
whose career began in the early 1990s as a big‑beat DJ and studio engineer at No
U‑Turn Studios. He first attracted attention with the 1994 single "The Dollar"
released under the name Artery on the Wall of Sound label, and soon after became
a resident DJ at The Heavenly Social, a club that helped shape the big‑beat
sound. In 1995 he signed with Heavenly Records and launched the Monkey Mafia
project, releasing the 1998 album Shoot the Boss and touring extensively.
