John Stanley Livingstone Harris, born 9 November 1932 in Edinburgh, Scotland,
was a composer, arranger, conductor and musical director whose career spanned
pop rock and film music. After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music,
Harris played trumpet with the Norman Burns band and later joined the beat group
The Shubdubs, recording a Beatles cover album Beatlemania in 1964 that led to a
worldwide tour with Jimmie Nicol. In 1965 he signed with Pye Records, arranging
