Johnny Clarke
Johnny Clarke, born January 12, 1955, is a Jamaican reggae musician. Clarke grew
up in the Kingston ghetto of Whitfield Town and attended Jamaica College. In
1971, he won a talent contest in Bull Bay, which led to a first recording, the
single "God Made the Sea and the Sun" (1972), with producer Clancy Eccles the
following year. Clarke's breakthrough came with the hits "Everyday Wondering"
(1973) and "Julie" (1973), produced by Rupie Edwards. Clarke then collaborated
