Johnny Adams

Early R&B
Soul music
After frequenting several gospel groups, he recorded a minor hit on his own in 1962, "A Loosing Battle". Recognition came in 1967 with a song conceived in the country-soul style of the time: "Reconsider Me". Despite a warm, expressive timbre somewhat reminiscent of Ray Charles, he failed to break into the American charts, or to stay with his record companies (Atlantic, Ariola). In 1992, however, he delivered a fine album, The Real Me, a rehabilitation of the blues repertoire composed by Doc Pomus.
