John Propitius
John Propitius, born in Baarn, Netherlands, in 1953, is a Dutch organist,
composer, and choir director. He studied organ at the Utrecht Conservatorium
under Nico van den Hooven and Jan Welmers. At age 16, he became organist for the
Reformed Church in his hometown of Baarn, later serving at the Oude Kerk in
Barneveld from 1977 to 1997 and the Reformed Church in Driebergen starting in
1997. Known for his sacred compositions and organ improvisations on Biblical
psalms, his album recordings include John Propitius – Speelt Eigen
