John Leventhal, born on December 18, 1952, is an American musician, producer,
songwriter, and recording engineer. In 1988, he co-wrote and produced Shawn
Colvin’s debut album Steady On, which won a Grammy. He played a key role in Marc
Cohn's 1991 hit Walking in Memphis. In 1997, he won Grammys for Record and Song
of the Year for Colvin’s Sunny Came Home.
Throughout the 2000s, Leventhal continued working with artists like Rosanne
Cash, producing her 2014 album The River & the Thread, which won three Grammys.
