John Altman
John Altman, born on December 5, 1949, in London, England, is an English film
composer, music arranger, orchestrator, and conductor. His early exposure to
1930s and 1940s music through uncles Woolf and Sid Phillips led to piano lessons
and university studies at Sussex and Birkbeck, where he performed with Peter
Green and Fleetwood Mac members. His breakthrough came in the mid‑1970s when he
began arranging and conducting for high‑profile recordings, including Aled
