Jimmy Blythe
James Louis Blythe, also known as Jimmy Blythe, was born on May 20, 1901, in
South Keene, Kentucky, and was an American jazz and boogie-woogie pianist and
composer. He moved to Chicago in 1917, where he worked at the Mavis Talcum
Powder Company and studied under Clarence M. Jones. He began recording for
Columbia Music Roll Company in early 1922, producing over 300 piano rolls. His
notable recordings include "Chicago Stomp" (1924), one of the earliest recorded
