Jiang Dawei, born on January 22, 1947 in China, is a singer known for his
contributions to Chinese music. He began his singing career in 1968 as part of
the Forest Trooper Art Troupe. In 1975, he joined the Beijing Central National
Song and Dance Ensemble as a solo singer. Jiang Dawei's breakthrough came with
hit songs such as the theme song for the 1986 TV series Journey to the West. He
later became chairman of both the Central National Song and Dance Troupe and
China Light Music Troupe.
