Jewel Akens, born Jewel on 12 September 1933 in Houston, Texas, was an American
singer. He began his musical journey singing in a church choir and later moved
to Los Angeles with his family. In the late 1940s, he started his professional
career as part of the band The Four Dots, releasing several singles.
Concurrently, he performed as a duo with Eddie Daniels under the name Akens &
Daniels. His breakthrough came when producer Herb Newman signed him to Era
